Michaels Open House – September 8

This Saturday, September 8, Michaels is holding its annual Open House from 11am to 3pm. This is an opportunity for you to come to the stores and meet all the Discover instructors. Michaels is also offering a 50% Off All Discover Classes bonus to anyone who registers for classes during the Open House.

I will be at the Dunwoody and Alpharetta stores on Saturday. Hope to see those of you who can attend there.

Stitches South Was Fun!

I didn’t get to report about Stitches South in April because I wasn’t feeling well, but I wanted to make a post about all the goodies I bought and the people I met.

It was held in Atlanta at the Cobb Galleria.  I was able to go on Saturday and Sunday.  This was my first time attending Stitches, but I was told that the event was much larger last year.  I got to catch up with my former coworkers and old stitching buddies.   They introduced me to some of their friends, and we ate and shopped.

Here’s most of the stuff that I got.  Starting at the upper right corner:  Malabrigo “Silky Merino” in Lettuce (from Friends & Fiberworks); some pretty purple Toho hex beads (from Moss Hollow Pottery); Neighborhood Fiber Co. “Studio Worsted” Superwash Merino in Rock Creek Park; navy and violet silk ribbon 6-strand wrapped yarn (from Hand Dyed Fibers); natural 100% mulberry silk yarn (from Leilani Arts); and “Djinni Sock” 80% superwash merino, 10% cashmere, 10% nylon in Heroine (from Dragonfly Fibers).  Underneath everything is a big-A Tunisian hook in size S from Bag Smith.

On Saturday after we shopped we went to the annual dinner at Scalini’s that is hosted by the Knit Witch.  I met even more people, and won one of the raffle prizes, which was a certificate for a free skein of yarn from Dragonfly Fibers.

At Stitches, I also got to meet some of the crochet designers that I have talked with online for years.  I finally met Tammy Hildebrand and Amy Roberts Shelton.  I also met Marly Bird and Kristin Omdahl.  I took a class from Myra Wood about template-based design, and I can’t wait to try her methods.  I didn’t get to talk one-on-one with Myra because I didn’t want to disrupt her class, but I look forward to seeing her again.

Can’t wait for next year.
