New Editor Selected for Interweave Crochet

December 17th, 2008 § 2

Marcy Smith is slated to fill the big shoes left due to Kim Werker‘s departure.  She has been chosen to be the new Editor of Interweave Crochet magazine and comes from The News & Observer newspaper in Raleigh, NC.

Marcy also wrote The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Crochet Projects Illustrated (Complete Idiot’s Guide to).

I’m excited to see what style she brings to Interweave Crochet.

Crochet Buzz: Changes at Interweave and More

December 3rd, 2008 § 2

Kim Werker tilted the crochet world off its axis yesterday when she announced she had sold CrochetMe to Interweave, and if that wasn’t enough she added the double-wammy announcement that she was stepping down as editor of Interweave Crochet magazine.  As soon as I got her email, I ran to Twitter to see what people were tweeting.  This is hot crochet convo right now.  I wish her the best, but I have to admit that I’m a little envious of her being able to make her move and follow her heart.  One day . . .

But Interweave Crochet’s Winter ’08 issue preview is just days away.  You can see the cover here.  BEAUTIFUL, huh?  I think Kim’s going to give us one helluva swan song on her way out with these next two issues of Interweave Crochet, and I’m not just saying that because I will be in them.

I’m also excited to see what flavor the new editor will bring to the publication.

Vogue Knitting Offers Compensation to Designers for Online Sales

November 25th, 2008 § 0

Following Interweave’s lead, Vogue Knitting is now offering compensation to designers for online sales of their work, but so far Vogue has not followed Interweave in matching the compensation rate.

Annie Modesitt has written an interesting blog post in which she shares her opinion about Vogue’s new compensation package. Hopefully, designers and publishers can meet at a place where selling online will be mutually beneficial for both.

New Home and an Announcement

November 23rd, 2008 § 2

welcome

Welcome to the new webpage/blog. I’ve moved to a new place, and I’m looking forward to seeing how this site develops using this application.

I’ve been really busy with crochet, but unfortunately most of it I cannot blog about yet. But I can let you all know that I will have a design in the upcoming Winter 2008 issue of Interweave Crochet. I’m so hyped, I can’t stand it! I’ve wanted to post about this for months, but I decided I’d wait until right before the issue was published. That way I wouldn’t be thinking about it every hour. I hope people like my design.  Three long weeks before the preview.  I think I can make it.

I’m also super busy with school too. Not a lot of time for sleep right now.
